1- Supply and Demand: There are many different types of buyers for these properties. Young families, people who want a yard, older buyers nearing retirement who want easy access in and out of their apartment rather than trudging up icy stairs in the winter (come to think of it nobody really likes doing that!). More buyers means the price goes up. Basic economics at this point.
Mile End is known for its nightlife, culture and walkable shopping districts, but lately it’s also becoming known for its table fare, everything from fish n’ chips to fine dining. Here are five of my personal favourites.
In the heart of Mile End, Hotel Herman is popular with Montreal’s foodies, offering small plates ideal for sharing. Patrons can sit around their large U-shaped bar in the center of the room overlooking the open kitchen and enjoy their extensive wine and cocktail menu.
Yuukai is a local favorite for delicious fresh sushi and great service. It’s BYOW, which makes it even more affordable. They also have a private room ideal for groups. But don’t forget to reserve, they are quite busy, especially on the weekends.
A signature Mile End spot, Lawrence is great for brunch, lunch and dinner. Perfect for upscale casual dining with a diverse menu.
Great place any time of day! This trendy local spot is famous for their weekend brunches, Sunday night roast and their delicious cocktails. Be sure to also check out the Cardinal Tea Room on the 2nd floor!
